Too Stressed Out!
I realized earlier today it was National Stress Awareness Day….really? I guess ONLY in America! I do not say that lightly.
In the past few weeks I have felt pulled and tugged – always looking inward at myself on why I am “feeling” this way and wanting to blame other people, places and things.
Very grateful to be aware of how I feel so much so, I can acknowledge it and pause (even if I am fighting it) to be aware, ask why and act in some fashion.
This past Sunday I shared a video on Walk Your Talk on my Facebook and You Tube Channel – I allowed myself to get so stressed out over an Executive Director and a Chairman of a local business association that I felt like I was going to have a breakdown – I asked myself “How could I let myself get to this point after all the work I have done on myself with self-care, detachment and awareness?”
Well I am human, yep we all are but damn if I don’t get pulled back into old conditioning and BELIEVE that old way of living is going to make me feel better. I mean chasing the “hear me” “listen to me” “value me” mantra that has played in my mind since I was an early teen.
So today it hits me on social media “National Stress Awareness Day” – I thought or a society to even acknowledge this is a pretty bleak thing….don’t you think?
So many people are white knuckling it in life – jobs – relationships – family – affiliations – religions – just to speak their truth and walk there talk. It bothers me that everyone is so on edge for the “next best thing” we are settling living in fear, stress and not remembering what we had to eat a few hours ago….for what?
I saw this graphic above “50 Ways to Take a Break” – As I looked at some of the suggestions I said to myself HAVE WE LOST IT…..we need a graphic to tell us to go to a park….pet a furry creature (animal or cat) or to engage in small acts of kindness….smile more…..REALLY????
What are people’s foundations of life in America that we are allowing ourselves to be so STRESSED out and accept it? I took a deep breath and looked at my life the past day, week, month and came up with the questions for tonight’s chat:
