Uncomfortable Conversations
How They Can Set Us Free
Love my truthbomb cards and conversation starter app from Danielle LaPorte. Short provocative messages that speak to me deeply, can spark creativity, old emotions, new emotions and a deeper devotion to myself and the greater message at stake.
A few weeks ago, August 28th on a beautiful Saturday I attended a workshop for 12 divine devoted women on Awakening to Love. It was a follow up to the first circle on July 25th when Venus went Retrograde (I am a student) and feeling connected to this process lead by an amazing Sound Alchemist Elizabeth St Germain from Baltimore.
The location was near my old stomping grounds, where I grew up and a lot of fun nostalgic memories. As I left that day to return to the city, sunshine was ablaze, I was driving down the backroads and it was automatic to put on my blinker and drive to my parents’ house. Mind you, I have a story here, not to get too detailed in this post, but I went to work for my father’s business at 22 and stayed for 26 years – at 20 years I knew this was not for me and at 24 years I wanted out….well I got out all right I was shut then fired. It sounds harsh, it was, however, it was part of the bigger plan and I have rustled with a lot of who, what, when and came to a place of peace, joy, forgiveness and want to move on. Unfortunately my mother created a lot of pain and stopped speaking to myself and my children….yes her grandchildren in 2011.
After many attempts to have constructive conversations and even mediation, I backed off and continued to work on myself and my children grew in their lives, in college, careers, life, etc…..so on this sunny August 28th I had not seen my parents since 2013 at a family funeral and my auto pilot was on to drive to their house (where I was born they still reside at the same location 52 years later) and attempt to have a very uncomfortable conversation.
I simply asked “would you consider moving on from this point”. I did not know what that would be. Oh to set the stage, that day I have on black stretch pants, flip flops and a LOVE shirt in pink and white….so I was very a glow with love! I also felt so calm and full from our Awakening to Love group, I thought I could conquer anything using my courage.
Well let’s just say it did not go so well. More on that later however it brought me to questions for tonight’s chat on How to Have Uncomfortable Conversations……even when they don’t go as planned:
- Courage is asking for what you need
- Courage or Comfort – choose one you can’t have both
- Without Courage everything seems more difficult

Courage Café Chat allows us to walk together and find courage even when life throws us curve balls. How we “feel” often determines our actions. Speaking our truth and accepting where we are in this place and time allows us to shift and create new ways of feeling and thinking to open doors.
It takes insane courage to detach and speak from the inside out…..heart centered living or soulful living to walk tall and believe we are enough, we matter.
After all….isn’t life about the journey and the feeling and courage to get to that place?
When you are grateful you cannot be fearful
Leave tonight in courage, knowing there is something bigger inside your soul!
Gaining clarity on how you feel inside will evoke the best of you that is yet to come. All the juicy breakdowns, breakthroughs and transformations you experience truly ARE the journey of life.
My hope is you embrace this process and continue to join us – I am eternally honored and grateful you are here #couragecafe XO @denisebuchman www.denisebuchman.com
