Have Courage and Be Kind
For the past few days my stomach hasn’t felt right. I am relatively healthy, eat clean, exercise and when my body is “off” I pay attention to it….it’s always a sign.
Then it occurred to me as I was reading social media this morning, especially my Facebook feed, all of the people thousands of people I am friends with, from all aspects of life, were displaying so much hatred and fear in what they were posting. All of this bad energy or vibe I was experiencing, I am sure was a build up from the political tone in the USA with the campaigns, debates and most recently with the horrific acts of terror in Paris on Friday November 13th. Yep….we forgot about that Friday the 13th!
I reflected on the people who were posting such nasty comments. Talking about bombing people, war and take entire cultures out of the world by more war. I have to say most of the people posting have never been out of their state let alone the country.
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit France 3 times in my life. The first time when I was 14 on a French Language trip to Paris for a week. A teenage girls dream and ever since then I was hooked on travel and France! I love France and have traveled back to Nice and Provence in recent years, honestly I could live there!
Then I started to think about the “Average American” and come to think of it most American’s do not travel outside the country. They do not realize there is a big world out there and our population is just so small. How can one see if they have not experienced it? How can one make such comments if they have not met another human being who they have to get creative even to communicate with because of different languages? The uncertainty that creates which often becomes fear.
Aside from various accents in the US travel is fairly blended except for diverse scenic views and the occasionally city in very rural areas that just might not have a Starbucks! LOL (had to add a funny here).
I’m saying this because where in the hell did the “American Way” go over the past years, months, days? Do people know where to begin to understand enough to think differently to be kind to another human being which is our humanity?
Well folks honestly, you hear it from all the gurus, you listen to all the people talking about “finding the ultimate happiness” and as we know people are in deep shit hurting and yearning for that FEELING! Right? New Alert……it begins with yourself.
If it were that easy we all be Tony Robbins, Oprah, Rumi or the Dali Lama! This is hard stuff to be willing enough to look inside of ourselves to figure out why we are projecting hatred. Let’s not forget, they all had journeys to transformation but they were willing.
I am not so sure I am seeing people who are “willing” to accept other people. As our world gets more flat and we are closer together….can we be kind to each other?
If one isn’t truly kind to themselves, how can they be kind to anyone else?
One has to ask themselves…..what is holding them back?
I am so grateful that I always bucked the system, bucked my parents growing up, bucked the teachers, my jobs and pretty much everything in life. Honestly that “badass” is still in me today. I am thankful for that and has become an entry on my gratitude list each day.
When I do get sidetracked…I can look at myself and say “what are you thinking…why are you thinking this way, who taught you to think this way and when did you start to believe this way?” Then I CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
We have resources at our fingertips, much easier than having to go to physically library or rely on printed encyclopedias (I grew up on those babies) often it’s what we choose to have as our resources. The vibe, energy and feeling that comes from them can kill people’s kindness to themselves and others.
What’s more disturbing than anything as I’m seeing people that I know I grew up. I knew since first grade – we might not be totally connected today but we once shared a common thread for 6 or 12 years of school those impressionable years! One can only hide behind the Facebook Keyboard SO LONG then the true side comes out. The good bad and the ugly!
I took a deep breath and looked at my life the past day, week, month and came up with the questions for tonight’s chat:

Courage Café Chat allows us to walk together and find courage even when life throws us curve balls. It provides a community, a tribe or people who want to live full out.
I believe how we “feel” determines our actions. Speaking our truth and accepting where we are in this place and time allows us to shift and create new ways of feeling/thinking to open doors.
It takes insane courage to detach and speak from the inside out…..heart centered living or soulful living to walk tall and believe we are enough, we matter.
After all….isn’t life about the journey and the feeling? Just need a dash of courage to get you there!
When you are grateful you cannot be fearful
Leave tonight in courage, knowing there is something bigger inside your soul!
Gaining clarity on how you feel inside will evoke the best of you that is yet to come. All the juicy breakdowns, breakthroughs and transformations you experience truly ARE the journey of life.
