Making Friends with Time
“Time is a created thing. To say ‘I don’t have time,’ is like saying, ‘I don’t want to.”
― Lao Tzu
- Courage is asking for what you need
- Courage or Comfort – choose one you can’t have both
- Without Courage everything seems more difficult
I’ve always had a fascination with tick-tock clocks the faces of clocks how they look, how they are made and the incredible creative artwork that involves the making of a clock. This picture is a clock I brought back from Interlaken Switzerland in 2007. It graciously hangs in the foyer with art from my travels. I just love the sound in the background….even at night! I counted the clocks in my apartment I have 10 – all sorts of sizes, textures, and looks – petite in the bathrooms and huge in the family room!
I stopped wearing wristwatches in 2012. To be honest when I was fired I needed all the cash I could get my hands on, so I used my $30,000 worth of jewelry (grateful I had it) as collateral to get a chunk of cash to survive and thrive. In that time frame I did not wear a watch and it felt liberating.
When I did pay my debt and get all this jewelry back – it really had no meaning especially the very expensive Baume Mercier watches – 3 of them! What in the word did I need these for and I sold them all! Liberating and today 3 years later I do not wear a watch and I love it.
I’m not sure if I have a fascination with time or I have a fear of time. The funny thing is I have always been a rebel against time….always fashionably late or am I in denial of being told a “time”….made me think about courage, time and is it my friend or foe?
Are we bound by time perimeters? Do they hold us back?
That led me to tonight’s Courage Café Chat. When does time hold us captive? Time was created hundreds or thousands of years ago for industrial and agricultural purposes from what I researched. It seems to conflicts with creative types like me.
These are the questions I wrote for tonight’s chat:
Chat Questions Below:
Q1 What do you think of when you see the word time
Q2 Are you a procrastinator
Q3 When was the last time you were so deep in a project that time just passed by
Q4 Think back to that time…..how you felt and share one word
Q5 Often people say they would rather have more time than money agree or disagree
Q6 How does thinking about time constrict you and your opinions of others and creating false judgments?
Q7 How do we re-learn thoughts about time and honor the pace that works right for each of us individually
Q8 There is a correlation between the universe and time metaphysically but what about us earthlings, do we get it?
Q9 The juicy one – time, space, relationships and love. Share how time has brought love into your life
Q10 How will courage help you see time differently tomorrow?
Courage Café Chat allows us to walk together and find courage even when life throws us curve balls. How we “feel” often determines our actions. Speaking our truth and accepting where we are in this place and time allows us to shift and create new ways of feeling and thinking to open doors.
It takes insane courage to detach and speak from the inside out…..heart centered living or soulful living to walk tall and believe we are enough, we matter.
After all….isn’t life about the journey and the feeling and courage to get to that place?
When you are grateful you cannot be fearful
Leave tonight in courage, knowing there is something bigger inside your soul!
Gaining clarity on how you feel inside will evoke the best of you that is yet to come. All the juicy breakdowns, breakthroughs and transformations you experience truly ARE the journey of life.
My hope is you embrace this process and continue to join us – I am eternally honored and grateful you are here #couragecafe XO @denisebuchman www.denisebuchman.com
