Courage to Speak Up – Detach from the Crowd
“The opposite for courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity” – Rollo May
Shared by Amanda Laden @refill_yoursoul
Has it become more difficult to detach from people, places and things in our society? Do we use our voices behind social media but are too timid or fearful to live full out in our own courage as human beings in our own flesh as we journey on to our places of business, community and in our families? It takes insane courage to detach and speak from inside our hearts.
So many people seem to value the number of acquaintances one has and that provides a sense of false security for many. Has our society lost the understanding of how to create and value a profound connection between people? In our society of increased platforms to speak out, to have courage, are we really using them to be an effective form of courage and change? Are they words or are they actions?
Are we basing our values on the outside or the inside? Pressures come from all sides today, from social media, street gangs, friends, social clubs, workplace, racial tensions, diversity that continues to grow and the often dysfunction dynamics that surround families from generational cycles of conditioning. Let’s not forget about the simple paralyzing fear of the unknown which often creates distrust, despair and conformity.
How can we unlock the emotions and feelings inside to gain clarity on how we want to feel? To encourage self-care which leads to self-advocacy and use our voices to stand up for what is right, just and fair?
